Mental health is not something that has ever been taken seriously in Pakistan as the health infrastructure has always been lacking and unfortunately the country's governance system depends on keeping most of the people poor and depressed. According to a report, 68 percent of people in Pakistan may suffer from mental health problems and no one is safe from it. The same is true of Yashal Shahid.
The young singer became a household name when her song drama Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay was being sung everywhere. She also performed at the March 23 parade and people love the magic she weaves with her voice. Yashal Shahid is undoubtedly one of the most exciting music talents of the country but she was battling depression.
Yashal took to Instagram and was brave enough to create an 11-minute video where she shared that even though everything was fine, she started getting worried a few months back. Over time it got worse and she started having suicidal thoughts. That's when he sought medical help and was diagnosed with clinical depression. Yashal hails from Islamabad and was staying in Karachi for work and is very close to her family. Her doctor told her to go back to her family. She is now undergoing treatment and sharing her journey with her fans, surely removing some of the stigma attached to depression in our society.
